Salt River Lakes

Information about lakes and reservoirs east of Phoenix that were created when Salt River Project built a series of dams on the Salt River between 1911 and 1930.

Theodore Roosevelt Lake
Lake Roosevelt was created when the Roosevelt Dam was built by the Salt River Project in 1911. Lake Roosevelt is the largest of the lakes that are completely within the borders of Arizona.

Apache Lake
Aapche Lake was created when the Horse Mesa Dam was built by the Salt River Project in 1927. Apache Lake is a long narrow lake that fills the canyon in which it is located.

Canyon Lake
Canyon Lake was created when the Mormon Flat Dam was built by the Salt River Project in 1925.

Saguaro Lake
Saguaro Lake was created when the Stewart Mountain Dam was built by the Salt River Project in 1930.
