Mojave Desert

Sonoran Desert
120,000 square mile desert in Arizona, California, and Mexico. Distinctive features include basins and plains surrounded by mountain ridges. Home of the Saguaro cactus and Saguaro National Park.

Colorado Plateau
A cold winter desert with segments in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. 130,000 square miles of sedimentary rock, mesas, and plateaus. Includes the Grand Canyon and the Painted Desert.

Painted Desert
A 94,000 acre desert that stretches from the Grand Canyon to the Petrified Forest national park.
