Beaches in Arizona

Arizona has more shoreline then the entire west coast of the United States but it is not a destination known for its white sandy beaches. There are plenty of places to swim on Arizona's lakes and rivers but not many sandy beaches. Visitors to Arizona's lakes and rivers are usually more interested in recreational sports such as boating, fishing, water skiing, and river rafting then they are in lying on a beach all day. But that being said, there ARE a few sandy beaches in Arizona, and even one full on beach resort. Here are some of the best beaches in Arizona:

Beach Resorts in Arizona
The only real beach resort in Arizona is a hotel on a man-made beach on the shore of Lake Havasu.

Boulder Beach on Patagonia Lake
Boulder Beach is a beach and roped off swimming area on the shore of Patagonia Lake, an artificial lake inside Patagonia Lake State Park that was created by building a dam on Sonoita Creek.

Gateway Beach Park
River beach park in the city of Yuma that was created as part of a $4.4 million park upgrade project in 2007. Gateway Beach Park is located at 259 South Gila Street in Yuma.

Tempe Beach Park
Beach park on the shore of Tempe Town Lake in Tempe, a town located in the greater Phoenix area, Beach on the shore of Tempe Town Lake in Tempe, a city in the greater Phoenix area. Tempe Lake is an artificial reservoir that was created by building two dams on the Salt River. Tempe Beach Park is located at the corner of Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway, on the south side of Tempe Town Lake, near the Tempe Center for the Arts and Arizona State University.
